Bad Teachers
We’ve all had them. These are teachers who have decided to do as little work as possible instead of helping their students. They have somehow lost their way through the tribulations and frustration being a teacher entails. So they assign an abundance of “busy” work, play movies, and show up to class late. Being a victim of countless encounters with bad teachers throughout my 12 years in the public school system, I can report that bad teachers are out there.
Bad teachers can affect many people; the first being their students. A student of a bad teacher learns less and often loses confidence. They may dedicate hours to completing an assignment to only have it ripped up in front of them. This causes frustration and confusion. Sometimes because of one bad teacher, a student can began to loathe school which could lead to dropping out. Though there are many scenarios, having a bad teacher never has a positive outcome. The quality of the school is also negatively affected. If the teacher doesn’t teach, the students won’t perform well on the state tests and therefore the school’s ranking will drop. Parents of a student with the bad teacher become livid once they see the torment their child is being put through. They begin to stop donating and supporting the school. The community as a whole is also affected since less people want to move next to a low ranked school. Finally, the school administration suffers with complaint letters and with a negative reputation.
I have had one bad teacher who has made me enraged about this issue; I will be calling him Mr. F. Mr. F taught Honors English yet there was nothing honorable about that class. He came to class every day 5 to 10 minutes late. He would frequently use rude language and racial slurs. He would assign presentations so he didn’t have to do anything. And worse of all, he actually fell asleep during class a few times. I hope to include this personal story in my hypertext as well as tips on how to deal with bad teachers.
