Does my website suck?

My website does not suck because it takes less than 4 seconds to understand what it is about, and you can quickly scan the page and find out what my website is about. It is also has only one splash page and it is easy to navigate throughout the pages. My website sucks because it needs more design elements, and all of the content is condensed to the side so I need to fix the percentage of my tables. I also use the tab "home" on my navigation bar.

Jerz:
1. place navigation on both top and bottom of the page
2. write meaningful link titles

Liu:
1. people do not want to spend a lot of time reading through things
2. people read things extensively

Nielsen:
1. scanning text has become extremely common
2. clicking buttons on the actual page has over taken the use of the "back" button

  1. Julia,
overall i like what you are doing with your site. its very informative and you even give suggestions on how to get over peer pressure.
there are a few things i would recommend on fixing though.
-there is to much scrolling up and down.
    -pictures are off
    -there is a little disorganization
    -the younger children page..yea...
-the wording is to thin, spread it out a litte, not one big chunk paragraph or a page of like 3 words in a line.

but as to everything else ur keeping the readers interested. ur specific on ur issues, and after just scanning its easy to understand what ur writing about.
    Good job.

  2. Julia!! your website looks really good!!
i really like all of the pictures they show what you are talking about really well and they are funny to look at!
your site is also easy to navegate through!
the only things that could maybe improve it that i can think of would be to make the navigavtion table a little more seperated from the text and the pictures and also to make it a consistant size. i really like it though!!

    I like...
    1)your constant color scheme
    2)your writing is clear
    I dislike...
    1)some pages are streached out
2)"what the media portrays" page should have a picture or some design

  4. The Good:
    - Your images are well chosen
    - keywords are easily identified ( good use of links)
    - the background is nice!
    Things to Improve on:
    - The text seems a little off center on some of the pages.
    - maybe make the navigation bar a little bit bigger so it easier to use
    GOOD JOB!
