I QUIT

Dear Celebrity Gossip,
Let me just start by saying, you’re a complete waste of time. You’re purpose is… what? Nothing. People like Perez Hilton and companies like TMZ thrive off of you but you are nothing. Your useless crap is rotting the minds of the world population. Instead of important stories on the news, we see your face. “Jon Gosselin calls TV show quits.” WHO CARES! What about the earthquake in Indonesia? I had to Google “recent earthquakes” just to find out which country it happened in. On top of that, Us Weekly and Ok! Magazine stock the shelves of grocery stores. Where are the good books? Or Time magazines? We only read your gossip because we envy the attention given to celebrities. Anyone would kill to live a day in the life of a celebrity. You’re blogs, magazines, and TV shows add to the anticipation. But it’s taking over. Celebrity gossip needs to stop. So, I am writing to say that, I quit. I am resigning from celebrity gossip. It’s over. I feel as though your gossip is taking the place of much more important information. Instead of reading up on Khloe and Lamar’s eighty-three million dollar prenuptials, young people should be studying the current wars, or thinking of new ways to dig the country out of the economic crisis. The information given to us in People magazine is worthless. The information given to us in BusinessWeek could actually benefit the future of many people. Although it is important to have idols and goals, the latest Paris Hilton news is not going to help any young people. And although adoption could be a great alternative to pregnancy, Madonna and Angelina’s race for the most adopted is extremely unrealistic. And although everyone looks for their true soulmate, Heidi and Spencer, who are constantly in the buzz, are not a good model couple. Much of the problem is due to today’s media. It seems that celebrities and reality are the only thing on. This has given the entire world the opportunity to obsess even more over materialism and drama and BS. It’s sad what “news” has come to. In early October, “Justin and Jessica SPLIT!” was the breaking news. Shouldn’t the recent find for swine flu vaccine be breaking news? It seems just a little more important than the latest couple’s drama. It’s time the world move in a different direction. There is so many negative things happening, but the important ones are not being exposed. Just to make sure you got it, I quit. Thanks for the time we shared.
Sincerely,
Julia Mink
