Denseness in the Age of Technology

I am going to write my hypertext essay on computer literacy. I feel rather annoyed at the general public at times due to their shortcomings in understanding how simple computer systems work. Whenever something with an on/off switch stops to work, it seems like everything has to come to a stop while everyone flails their arms about in panic over a simple problem. Some people who are computer illiterate are not to blame for their situation; they have grown up in a world where electricity is just as scarce as a water supply. However people who live in the United States, and who use computers every day have absolutely no excuse for their incredibly dense demeanour. Geeks who through the grace of god have been gifted with a brain that actively seeks solutions are unfortunately tending to the people who refuse to learn how to use a computer. This societal mentality leads people to learn better techniques for whining about how slow their computer is, rather than learn how end processes that are eating up CPU power. It is AMAZING what can be done when you take two seconds to just look at the situation, and using your basic understanding of computers, plug a cable in or install drivers. It also is astounding how 90% of problems can be solved with a quick google.
My hypertext essay is going to be dealing specifically with this issue, and both sides of the computer literacy spectrum. It will teach the illiterate simple solutions, and tell geeks how to cope with the intense hatred for said illiterate. It will also discuss in detail the history of how the current situation came to be, and how a course of action could be taken to solve these many annoyances.
