Fan Fiction: True Life - I Am An Assassin

Click here to go to the homepage for my website. The Comic Life project is at the bottom. I've decided to move forward with the theme of what can and cannot be taught in schools in my research hypertext. I haven't quite found out how to connect the comic strip I prepared for today to the theme directly, but I am sure more ideas make connections will come in time. Upon finishing the novel, Marcus got rescued by Barbara by the CHP after being detained by the DHS and "Severe Haircut" again. He was also reunited with Darryl, who seemed to have been suffering a lot, mentally in particular, from being held captive by the DHS and treated so harshly and indecently for such a long time. Marcus also reunited with Ange whom he lost in the riot after the VampMob game at the Civic Auditorium with the thousands of Xnetters. The case finally got busted open. The Governor of California removed the DHS and all of its employees from government positions and threw them in jail for questioning and indictment for their crimes. All the risks Marcus took to get the word out about what REALLY happened, paid off. People could start living some semblance of a normal life with the removal of the "police state" type behavior by the DHS and re-instuition of the original criminal justice system. My comic strip (made of Comic Life) is a fan faction based off of the 2005 film, Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Using some of the characters and events from the film, I made some connections to the novel, Little Brother and threw in some humor where I could. Given that Mr. and Mrs. Smith were assassins who were ordered by their respective organizations to kill each other, which they both eventually found out, I found the title I gave the comic strip very appropriate, along with its MTV show title-twist. Mr. and Mrs. Smith find out that their respective organizations sent them on a hit to kill each other. When they find this out, they team up to find Marcus and take down the DHS from the inside. There used to be only 1 person vs this so-called government organization. Now there were three. And two of them have guns.

  1. Original Contribution - Making Connections

In connection to my comic strip:

Organization who hired Mr. and Mrs. Smith and put them on the same hit to purposely kill each other = terrorists in Little Brother

Marcus' point of view: (before DHS' removal by CHP State Troopers)
The terrorists turned this city in a police state. Nobody could make a move without worrying about being arrested. I feel like I'm doing all that I can to make people understand that there is something definitely wrong and fishy about what's going on here. The way the DHS is treating its prisoners is obviously not right. Realistically speaking, I think that the terrorists are the DHS. They have done the terrorizing, they have sucked away every semblance of a normal life this city once knew. The terrorists have managed to infiltrate the school system indirectly, removing teachers allowing their students to discuss current events and employing teachers who were their to teach what the administration wanted them to. This is what I have been thinking along. Before the terrorist attack I could always speak my mind about things and take a risk being sent to Benson's office because of it. Afterwards, I knew that I was completely at odds with the new system put in place (surveillance systems, new teachers, etc...). Nothing seemed right. Nothing seemed normal anymore.
It can't be this simple yet it is but nobody wanted to listen. The terrorists blew up the Bay Bridge, and the DHS can't cease to think that the Xnetters are behind it all, that's why they have stepped up security over the internet. They think that we have been brainwashed by the terrorists to infiltrate the US from the inside. The terrorists have turned the DHS into terrorists, not people who should be acting in the best interest of the citizens in the country they serve.

It is all a lie. The only thing that is true here is that we were attacked and it is the national security of our country that has failed to identify the real cause, much like September 11th and the War in Iraq.

  2. Something as drastic as a terrorist attack affects the school system? How? It sure does make me feel more patriotic but why do I have to be patronized in school about sticking up for my country's history. Why do teachers have to be fired because they don't agree with what the administration of my school wants them to allow students debate in class, for example. We have local and state school boards for that. They decide what is taught, they decide what books we use, not a terrorist attack.
