why my website sucks

My website doesnt take more than 4 seconds to load and my website doesnt do too much apperance wise so there isnt anything unnessisary. There are other criteria on this list that my website has nothing to do with like the questions that deal with companies but there are many things on this list that do apply to my website that overall makes my website suck. I used alot of clip art instead of quality photos and some of my links are ineffective or dont really work at the moment.

How my site sucks and doesnt suck

http://webpages.scu.edu/ftp/AAgcaoili/boysandgirls.html

One way my site doesn't suck is taht you do not have to scan the article to know what it is about. The title on each page is usually clear on what the article is about. If not, each page has a broader titel fror the section it is in. Another way it doenst suck is the fact that the focal point is easy to center on to. Although the site is a little text heavy, it was meant to be that way because the site was created for a writing class.
Some ways it suck are on some pages there is a lot of blank space, depending on the user's monitor size and that the logo on each page is not at the top-left of the screen.

Some ideas I learned to help me are that i need to have my site be more organized. Jerz says to have a vanigantion bar oth at the top and bottom of the page. Also to help the reader, each page should be distinct, for example, you cannot click on the tab tou just clicked when on the page. Liu says to make keywords more obvious. This can be done using some sort of digital hight lighter that brings attention to the basic idea of the article. Finally Nielson recommends organizing text in an f shape pattern. Also, the important ideas should be on the left as the left side of the page often is read more than the right.

How my website sucks/and doesn't suck

3 ways I feel my website doesn't suck is that it is easy to navigate, the titles match the text, and the links are clearly labeled. 2 ways I think it may suck are it has alot of centered text and I'm not sure how the content fits on different screens. From the articles I found some intresting facts to help my writing

1. Use place holder text on navigation bars
2. Use different colors to highlight navigation
3. people skim long pages, averaging only 4.4 secs per 100 words
4. Nonlinear reading is focused on quick summaries
5. Use multiple naviagtion bars
6. Eliminate unnessary text.

Tom Allen Website #2

The two reasons why my website does not suck are:
1. The home page does not take more than 4 seconds to load.
2. The links are clearly labeled and easy to find.

The two reasons why my website does suck are:
1. I used center page text on more than just the headline.
2. You have to scroll from side to side to get all of the important criteria on one page.

My website: www.webpages.scu.edu/ftp/tmallen

My blog doesn't suck (or does it)

3 ways my blog sucks:
-quickly scanning the pages does not really tell what the site is about
-my site doesnt really explain how to solve your problems
-i dont know which design items arent neccessary

3 ways my blog does not suck:
-important content fits on the screen
-use justified text
-links are informative

From the articles i read, i found these many ways to help my website in the future:
-use place holde texts in menu's
-use multiple naviagtion bars to organize larger sites
-decrease in-depth and concentrated readings
-annotate and highlight
-elimintate blah-blah text (guess how much the user reads)
-F shaped pattern for reading

Does my website suck?

My website does not suck because it takes less than 4 seconds to understand what it is about, and you can quickly scan the page and find out what my website is about. It is also has only one splash page and it is easy to navigate throughout the pages. My website sucks because it needs more design elements, and all of the content is condensed to the side so I need to fix the percentage of my tables. I also use the tab "home" on my navigation bar.

Jerz:
1. place navigation on both top and bottom of the page
2. write meaningful link titles

Liu:
1. people do not want to spend a lot of time reading through things
2. people read things extensively

Nielsen:
1. scanning text has become extremely common
2. clicking buttons on the actual page has over taken the use of the "back" button

Michael Adair Analytical Hypertext

http://webpages.scu.edu/ftp/MAdair
Click on the creepy embryo.
My text is readable and text font is not too boring.
My site has a cool color scheme that is NOT ugly.
My links are obviously a different color and are underlined.
Content is blatantly organized.

However,
There are videos that take a while to upload
My index page has flashing graphics that may cause seizures.
My navigation is not the most convenient because I am not technilogically sound enough to make a drop down navigation bar.

What I learned:
Maybe create a menu bar along the side if i have enough info.
Placeholder text in your readings
It's quick scanning reading, not in depth so make sure your information reiterates the main ideas
Peopl read too quickly when going on websites so don't stress yourself about putting in depth thoguht and detail into your writing
Put all important ideas at top and towards the left (F-reading)
Information carrying words are crucial
Low literacy people don't read things the same way that we do, they look ate everything word by word on a website, causing them to be majorly distracted by everything that's going on.

Does My Website Suck?

One thing that does not suck about my website is that someone can easily identify my topic by quickly looking at headings on the first page. Also, I feel that the navigation is clear and easy to use. Users will know where they are in the site and always have an easy way to get back to the previous page or navigate further into the site.

Some things that aren't good about my site include the fact that the page does not quite fit onto the screen all at once and users have to scroll to the side to view some text. Also, my links don't change color for visited sites so that may be confusing for users.

http://webpages.scu.edu/ftp/mgaletto

Most people don't look at anything on the page except for the main content in the middle because they have trained themselves to ignore the sidebars since they are usually filled with advertisements. It is also important for viewers to have a home page link on every page of the site so they can quickly link back to the beginning. The Liu article suggested that this generation of readers lacks the ability to read deeply due to the advancement sof digital media. On the other had, this new media has allowed people to specitfy content for different groups. The Nelson article said that people generally spend 4 seconds looking at a website before leaving and count that as "visiting" the site.

Analytical Hypertext Proposal

My “I Resign” letter was focused on racism and prejudice that I heard of but did not directly experience at my high school. When I say “did not directly experience” I mean that none of the racism or prejudice was directed at me personally. It all was directed toward my religion, Judaism, and Jews alike. The basic story that I have to tell is that students around my high school, mostly upperclassmen (juniors and seniors), were making derogatory toward their friends if they didn’t let them borrow money or didn’t share something with them whether it was information or homework. The comments I specifically heard were something along the lines of “you’re such a Jew” and “you just got super Jew-ed” (implying being weaseled out of something- “gypped”- another derogatory comment). I took immediate action because I took every bit of this personally. Being at a Roman Catholic high school, I didn’t believe such behavior would ever come to my attention. I heard my own friend sometimes saying this stuff and was infumed. I started out by telling them to stop saying this stuff because of how derogatory and racist it was. I also told them that it wouldn’t be right for me to say something about their religion or other characteristic about themselves that may seem funny or easy to make fun of. I felt like I had an obligation to stop this because if I wasn’t going to, no one would have. I soon saw this stuff on Facebook as well which aggravated me to the point where I could just punch a whole through a wall. I guarantee anyone else in my situation would do similar if not exactly the same thing. I stood up for myself and my religion in this situation. However, I wanted to give people the idea that saying these derogatory comments toward other religions or ethnicities was not acceptable at all as well. It’s sad to know that people still can bear to hear these words. A general lesson to anyone who reads this is to stand up for yourself when you hear things like this, but most importantly stand up for those religious groups and ethnicities that surround you. Respect. That’s all everyone ever asks for. Period.

hypertext

Do you know what it feels like to be judged? To know that no matter how hard you try to be who you are, someone is scrutinizing your every move, looking at you from head to toe and forming an opinion about you? I have, and let me tell you, it SUCKS. No matter how you look at it, the fact remains that people are judged each and every day whether it be by their outfit, popularity, ethnicity, gender, or even hair color. People form an opinion about you from the moment they meet you and as hard as you may try to change it, oftentimes it is not possible to change what people think. The age-old expression, don’t judge a book by its cover is more often ignored than followed in modern society. Virtually each and every individual is judged in some way whether it be through media, peers, or adults. Fashion’s best and worst dressed, who wore it better, and fashion police dictate whether celebrities are put on the Hot Or Not list of the weekly tabloid, or whether they receive that cover spot on the newest Seventeen Magazine. It is almost impossible for a celebrity to go out, hair unkept and face unmade, without facing the endless scrutiny of the media. Our peers label us by the designers we wear, the people we talk to, and the amount of money we have. Those who don’t follow the fashion trends or don’t keep up with the fast crowd are considered outcasts. Homosexuals are often made fun of and considered “freaks” simply because they fall outside of the accepted “social norm”. Those who practice certain religions, or perhaps don’t practice any, are given certain stereotypes and treated differently because of their beliefs. Students who do not get straight A’s or who do not test well are considered “dumb” by teachers and expected to fail. Unfortunately, these days judgement is a social norm. It has become human nature to place people in categories. Truthfully, I too, am guilty of stereotyping. It is more common than uncommon in our society, but it does not change the fact that judgement destroys people’s self-esteem and needs to be stopped.

hypertext proposal Burke

Topic for Hypertext essay from a committed standpoint

Ignorance and negligence on the part of non-medical professionals

My hypertext proposal is for a website looking at some of the medical issues presently or in the past, and how they have been perceived differently by these different groups. Each different viewpoint will suggest a different course of action for just about everything. From how to get information about the flu, to how to diagnose your disease of choice, there will be disagreement between the factions. I am a relatively well-educated guy who has spent an inordinate amount of time around doctors, other patients, and other people in a medical setting. I have insight into my own position and it is not an unexamined position, since for a while now I have had more than enough reasons to not trust, cooperate, or work with doctors, but for some reason I still do. My experience in the area has also given me an idea of the motivation for people who believe differently than me. In regard to doctors, my mom and me are now friends with one of my former doctors, and I have gotten to know most of my doctors very well by this point. After having seen them over such a long period of time, and outside of the hospital setting as well, I can see and understand a lot of their motivations. In regard to insurance companies, I honestly don’t know them well at all; I’ve simply cost them a lot of money. Luckily this is more than enough of a relationship, since they function solely around money. The media is a relatively easy standpoint to analyze since all you need to do it turn on a tv or look online to get an idea. I will cover what each groups specific suggestion, or inferred suggestion, was for each medical issue, and what the outcome(s) were/are of both the issue and their suggestions.

The conflict: Medicine (all of it)

Best looked at through the analysis of a number of specific medical conflicts, issues, panics, etc.

Swine Flu

Mersa

STD’s (ill specify more depending on evidence found)

Possibly more

My position (generalized)- People who are conscious enough to know they probably aren’t qualified to be making medical decisions and that they should defer to the advise of doctors and medical professionals

An astounding number of people are painfully unaware of their own lack of knowledge of medicine, and yet simultaneously, deem themselves able to make medical decisions that influence not only themselves, and their families, but also the world around them. Lack of knowledge in regard to your own health can be problematic among other things, but that is why we have medical professionals who spend more than 8 years beyond college studying medicine. The real terror in the situation comes from those individuals, who believe to be knowledgeable and able to make medical decisions, without the presence of any sort of medical degree or qualification. This is dangerous, and not just figuratively speaking. The things that are so quickly overlooked by these people while rationalizing their own medical genius to themselves are relevance and credibility. After Googling “flu shot” you see the first entry, which is a news article titled “Many Americans Still Leery of Swine Flu Vaccine‎” (I actually did this.) Thus enforcing your preexisting certainty of the dangers of the flu. This is how these people will prove they arguments as well, and this is nearly as contemptible as their ignorance. The inability to support your own argument logically, with well-founded facts (not containing “google” anywhere in them) is what I would consider to be a basic skill set in this era, particularly if you see yourself fit to make life altering medical decisions. I say “life altering”, and again, I am not speaking figuratively. The flu is an enormously virus in of itself, but there is also another danger when you don’t get vaccinated and you go unchecked. The term “flu-like symptoms” is used frequently in medicine, because they pop up area, but in particular in some of the most deadly diseases and infections.

Opposing Standpoint- People who have deemed themselves fit to make medical decisions for themselves and those who they care for, due to either their own education or reassert, but not medical schooling. These are in essence the people who research online, but don’t consult their medical doctor.

This is America and we have our freedoms. We have the right to determine the way in which we conduct our own medicine, as we do for everything else in the rest of our lives. So long as we aren’t breaking the law, we should be able to do what we like. Similarly, with just a little research we can make educated decisions without involving the influence of medical institutions like doctors, and hospitals. Not everyone gets sick all the time, and many are not nearly as sick as the people who are the hospital.

3rd Parties-

Medical Professionals- The people who have been deemed qualified by an institution, and not their own opinions, to make medical decisions. Doctors themselves are not universally qualified either, and outside of their specialty, need the assistance of other doctors. Ironically in regard to their health, doctors tend to treat outside of their own specialty, and will be hesitant to reach out for assistance from someone better suited. (This is from personal experience from knowing doctors.) Professionally, doctors have to support and tell others to support my own position, that you should always consult your doctor. Personally though, doctors are incredibly split between the previous two viewpoints. In reality this is slightly justified because they are all doctors and have all received medical degrees which is some amount of qualification, but if it’s enough to justify self treatment outside of their own specialty, is a difficult question since it is different for every doctor and their specialty. (A senior dermatologist probably isn’t qualified to treat himself for a cold, while an internist could conceivably treat themselves for a number of problems)

Insurance Companies- Insurance companies are simple; they want to spend as little money as possible regardless of the correct decision in any other sense. Insurance companies will support the most consistently safe and cost efficient method of medicine. It would be hard to find in writing, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually supported some amount of self screening of symptoms before going to the doctor, but ultimately prevention is the best treatment, so they will always support that route.

Media (News networks/TV, internet media/blogs/etc.)- media isn’t affected by this conflict so much as media affects the conflict. As most notably seen in the clusterfuck that was the swine flu scare, the media as a whole went a little overboard as we can now see. Often the media will defer to what the CDC suggests, or another medical institution. Though this would seem to support the first (my) standpoint, the media will often direct you to the internet to get more information of the issue. Though their facts are likely perfect that is rarely the problem in terms of medicine online. Context and interpretation of the information is critical, and any part of the media that’s any good knows this. The information you are looking at is likely not the entire truth of it, or it has been reshapen to make it a more exciting or provocative story.

SAT classes suck

I propose to create my analytical hypertext about taking SAT classes and the negative aspects of it to the student. SAT classes made my life miserable for a few years, and I know they probably make other high school kid's lives miserable as well. On top of dealing with friends and family, we are forced into class that not only wastes valuable homework/friend time, but also has no effect on lives as a whole or much improvement in SAT scores.

My five points of views are going to be: the student taking SAT classes, parents of the student, SAT class teachers, college admission officers, and friends of the student. My own standpoint is that SAT classes are pointless, and a waste of time, because after taking 2 years of SAT classes, I improved my score by 100points, compared to the 200 I improved a few months after quitting the class and before taking the real test.

Parents only want the best for the child, if they are willing to pay thousands to send them off into SAT classes. They want the kid to go to an Ivy league school if possible, and are told by the SAT class teachers that SAT scores are the most important aspect that colleges like to consider. They invest a lot of money and time into something that only has minimal results most of the time.

SAT class teachers, as much as they want to think that they are helping out the student and thus making themselves feel good, in reality most of the time only want to gain a few extra bucks to put into their pockets. Many are only in the market to gain money by persuading parents the importance of SAT scores, when in reality community service and academic G.P.A are more important than high standardized testing numbers.

I want to write about this because I have had negative first hand experience in this topic, and I know many others in my generation feel the same way. The pressure and little change in scores are not worth the time and tears and effort we were forced to put into these classes. And I am glad I quit.

Chases Hypertext

I would like to do my hypertext on peer pressure. Peer pressure has always been around me and has been very stressful at many times and caused me to make multiple bad decisions throughout my life.

Groups: People pressuring others, people being pressured, other friends of people being pressured, parents of people being pressured, friends of people pressuring others

Peer pressure can be very dangerous and persuasive. People often pressure people into doing things they don’t want to do, which can often affect those peoples friends indirectly. Also the parents of people who are pressured into doing things will often be very unhappy with what they do. And the friends of people who are the source of a lot of peer pressure will most likely be dealing with pressure very often and have a very tough time making good decisions all the time.

Telemarketers

Have you been sitting in your home and just watching the television or doing something you enjoy, when the phone rings. You get up thinking its going to be an important phone call but no its not, it’s a telemarketer. Or the case when you are expecting a call from an important person, its as if the telemarketers can read your mind and decide to call at that time. There may be times as well when you are truly busy doing some important activity and you do not want to stop, but then the phone rings and you hesitate to go answer it, you wait to see maybe someone else answers the phone or it stops ringing but it doesn’t, as you go to pick it up, there is a long pause. You first wonder was it someone playing a joke on you but that’s when someone begins to talk and you immediately know it’s a telemarketer and either you listen or don’t. As most people do, they just hang up, but for some reason that does not work. Telemarketers seem to call over and over, and it gets on peoples nerves. As individuals we do not know what to do anymore, we are tormented by the calls of the telemarketers and we want it to stop. I do understand that it may be their job to go and call people and offer what they are trying to sell, but it gives them no excuse to call at wild hours of the day, or to continue calling. They need to be more organized and know when someone hangs up or tells them “no” they mean it and to not call back in the future.

DJ's Hypertext

Topic Proposal

My Hypertext intends to deal with the addiction that students all across the country are facing. The addiction isn’t drugs or alcohol, but rather the addiction is the social media outlet Facebook. Everyday millions of students log on to Facebook to chat with their friends and to partake in some of the thousand applications that Facebook has to offer. Students sometimes find themselves wasting time away on Facebook instead of working on all the homework that they have due the next day. In my hypertext I intend to look at all of the distractions that Facebook causes in the academic arena. In broad terms my topic is new technologies vs. academic achievements, however more specifically my topic is looking at the role Facebook plays in distracting students from reaching their academic potential.

Right now it is estimated that there are 300 million users on their Facebook page right now. Don’t these people have anything better to do? The goal of this website will be to examine the role that Facebook plays in academic achievements for students, education in general, teachers, parents, and on the schools. The students are effected because they could see a decrease in their GPA because they are spending time on Facebook instead of studying like they should be. This issue affects teachers because they are going see a decrease in their student’s performance. Parents of the students and the schools themselves will both be affected because they will be disappointed in the students’ academic performance. Most importantly, education is taking a back seat to new technologies, and this is a problem that society faces in many areas.

It would be interesting to see how many hours students waste away on their Facebook instead of doing schoolwork. I speak from personal experience when I say that I have wasted several hours of my life sitting at my computer on Facebook doing absolutely nothing. This is not an anti-facebook website because Facebook is a great way for people to stay in touch. However, there comes a point when Facebook no longer becomes a way to communicate with friends, but instead it becomes an addiction.

Allison's analytical hypertext

I resign from the media creating unattainable ideas of beauty and perfection. From a young age the media targets girls to believe in one image of beauty. The media always implies that people have to change something about themselves to attain this image. Not only does this affect young teenage girls, but also the entire population. These ideas have become ideals that people aspire to. The media shows the idea of unrealistic body size, through magazines, commercials, TV shows, movies, and advertisements. It has become a popular topic of debate in the fashion industry as well. Models are expected to be one size: skinny. Not only is it dangerous for models, but it also influences what girls think of their own weight. Similarly, most magazine covers are of skinny women. Although these women are already skinny, the editors continue to teak parts of their body that aren’t perfect. Therefore, half of the images that we see aren’t real or attainable. Inside these magazines, the advertisements continue to picture unhealthy skinny models. Companies try to sell their products by degrading women’s body or giving the idea that you could look like her if you bought the product. It’s all bullshit. Movies, Magazines, TV shows, Commercials all have one incentive; to make money. Even though they’re sending a message while doing so, they want to have high ratings and sell the most. From a young age people are so brainwashed by this idea of beauty, that it’s hard to depict the nonsense. The problem is these unrealistic beliefs of body image hurt everyone. It leads to numerous eating disorders, and lack of self - confidence. Although we are told that the media is portraying unrealistic images, we continue to see it in everyday life. Celebrities who try to maintain unhealthy weights because when they don’t they’re on US weekly’s front page. Or TV newscasters who are getting cosmetic surgery to look younger, and more attractive. Because once you reach a certain age people fear that they stray to far from the ideals of beauty. Lastly, the barbie dolls that every young girl plays with are disproportionate. If those dolls where you humans, they couldn’t survive. These daily images continue to display the unattainable ideal of beauty that is impossible to reach.

New Hypertext Proposal

For our next assignment we were instructed to take a committed standpoint from which we are involved. It took me a while to come up with an idea for this assignment but I eventually settled upon Animal Rights Extremist’s and how their rash and violent actions have slowed progress on Animal Rights Laws and moved the attention away from the animals. As an Animal Lover and member of several animal protection groups I believe there are two conflicts going on between animal lovers and everyone else. First, there are certain groups who fully support the mistreatment of animals and are also in support of animal testing. This is not to say that all people supporting animal testing are animal abusers. There may also be groups who are in support of animal testing but who also support animal rights and laws sustaining their proper care. Although there are many subgroups in the category of non-animal lovers the real conflict is between the extremists and the activists. Animal activists such as organizations like PETA, “worth through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.” There goal is spread awareness of animal mistreatment and ultimately work towards saving the lives of animals. There are thousands of smaller organizations with the same goals as PETA to protect and save animals, however there are some groups that take these goals a little too far.

Animal rights extremists use vandalism, harassment campaigns, arson, and violent assault against researchers and associated people or entities as an end to achieve their means. These groups do not only threaten scientists and organizations but they are also a threat to animal rights groups.

The four stakeholders in this conflict are; the animal activists, the animal extremists, the organizations and scientists who promote safe animal testing, and the farmers, labs, clothing factories, and entertainment industry who abuse animals and ignore information and protests from stopping them. There are many overlaps between the groups, some agreeing on the protection of animals, some agreeing that animals are just another lab experiment, and some who ignore the other groups in belief that their way is right. This hypertext will explore the four major opinions that surround Animal Rights in attempt to help you formulate your own.

Hypertext Proposal

The dishonorable person

The person being lied to

If a person is using other people in their lie…them

Authority figures

Friends

Friends…authority figures…compulsive liars…community…morally correct people

Conflict:  Dishonorable or dishonest people impose on the moral codes of individuals who choose to made ethical decisions and live their lives in honest ways.  These same dishonorable or dishonest people inadvertently force respectable individuals to test their own beliefs and often inflict feelings of guilt on these reputable people.  These forced feelings make these well thought-of people to question their own beliefs and often make them feel as if they are making a poor decision when in reality they are being forced into uncomfortable circumstances.

Conversely, these immoral beings are trying to justify their actions and decision to make poor choices.  These people choose to lie or make take other unethical paths in their lives while causing other humans within their community grief due to the fact they must make a decision either based off of loyalty or personal principles.  This is unfortunate due to the fact these well-respected individuals are put in a morally challenging position despite the fact they are not in the wrong.  Another reason as to why these individuals choose to make unethical decisions is because they feel as if they must enhance their lives through false pretenses.  They are not morally strong enough to achieve their goals by working hard and putting genuine effort into accomplishing their objectives.

Dishonorable people put others in their community, and sometimes their friends, in uncomfortable positions in which they, the morally correct persons, question themselves and their values and are put in positions where they have to make decisions they should not have to.

In my hypertext I will discuss what it means to be honorable.  While individuals are entitled to their own beliefs and set of personal core values, there are accepted values that are viewed as ethical and morally correct within society.  This hypertext will dip into sociological or psychological viewpoint of what constitutes morality and honesty.  To whom are individuals responsible to act honorably towards and what constitutes ethical actions within society?

Briana MacDonald's Analytical Hypertext

I want to write my hypertext on resigning from people smoking cigarettes. I’m taking a stand against smoking because it is detrimental to peoples heath and society. It not only harms the smoker but other people as well. The fact that smoking indirectly hurts other people and not just the smoker itself, is one of the top reasons why it is so bad. Smoking cigarettes is bad because...
a.) it’s damaging to one’s health
b.) it can cause lung cancer
c.) second hand smoke is equally as deadly
d.) it pollutes the air
e.) it smells bad
f.) it effects everyone
g.) it can harm people in the vicinity who are allergic and can put them into anaphylactic shock

These are just some of the many reasons why smoking cigarettes is bad. But on the other hand, there are many people who think that smoking is okay, and have justified to themselves, and others, why it’s acceptable. From a smokers standpoint it is hard to quit. Many become addicted and find it impossible to stop, even if they want to. It’s an addiction they just can’t break; even with the help of nicotine patches and similar techniques smoking can be a hard habit to quit. Many people smoke for recreation, or as a reward or find pleasure in smoking. They do it because it makes them feel better and enjoy it. For many others, smoking is a way for them to relieve stress when things in life get tense or when they are anxious. Originally, back in the sixties and seventies smoking was considered “cool.” Of course, this was before people were aware of the health problems associated with smoking, but people still today feel that smoking is cool. Some people have a history of smoking in their family, and it gets passed onto them since they grew up in a smoking environment.

Another completely different side to this though, is from the eyes of the cigarette/tobacco industry. The cigarette companies want to promote smoking because it boosts their revenue and builds their empire. They don’t care about the negative impacts, they just care about making a profit and increasing their stocks.

So in this there are three major groups.
1.) The smokers
2.) The non-smoking bystanders
  • people allergic to smoke
  • lung cancer victims
  • anti-smoking campaigners
3.) The tobacco industry and affiliates
  • stock holders/investors
  • stores that sell cigarettes

Will Lynch's Analytical Hypertext Proposal

My personal standpoint is regarding the amount of food that is wasted in the restaurant industry, (based solely on my experience working at a restaurant.) Working at this place gave me a glimpse of how the kitchen worked. Food was rarely prepared as it was ordered. Based on previous sales, this restaurant prepared sauces and dishes in large quantities in hopes that they had prepared enough. This increases the efficiency of a restaurant since many things don’t have to be cooked as it gets ordered; otherwise a restaurant is considered “slow” or the “food took too long to come”. This means that on a given night there will ALWAYS be food that is wasted. Yes, plenty of things can be stored, but certain things just can’t be kept. For example: Sausages can pretty much be kept forever but if a roasted pork knuckle isn’t eaten that night, then it’s going in the trash. My conflict here is how much perfectly good food goes to waste. Not half eaten food scraps, but both uncooked and cooked food that is simply thrown away. Buying food in bulk at wholesale prices must not cost all that much in relation to rent and labor considering that they throw so much of it away. My conflict here is how much good all this food can do at say, at a homeless shelter. I’m sure a restaurant doesn’t want to openly admit how much of their inventory goes to waste, but maybe all it takes is a few restaurants to step up and be willing to admit that there is extra food that could benefit someone.

Of course nothing is this simple, I’m sure there are plenty of reasons why so much food goes to waste. There is my point of view based on my observations. There is the restaurants point of view. Locally, people who are in need of food, people who are homeless should have a stake in what happens to the wasted food. Globally, people living in poverty all around the world could benefit so much from all the food wasted all around the world. My fifth stakeholder is a theoretical one. Why aren’t there organizations that coordinate an effort to pick up a restaurants wasted food? If it’s of no trouble to a restaurant and it is kept discreet, I’m sure a restaurant would agree.

Analytical Hypertext Topic Invention, by Schubylicious.

My analytical hypertext topic is, in essence, on the over emphasis on higher education in America (and this probably extends over many other industrialized nations). My I resign letter was originally about how I “resign” from the notion that I have to go to college, simply because my family wants me to and “everybody else did it”. However, on a much more broad scale, this is about the crazy lengths that the United States has gone to make sure everyone gets a higher education. High schools pride themselves on how many kids go on to 4 year institutions after they graduate. They use it as a statistic to pat themselves on the back and make them look good. The real truth, I believe, is that some of those kids who are going to college might not want to be. Maybe they are going because they’ll make more money after college, or maybe they’re going because their parents think its best. These aren’t good reasons to go to college. Those kids are going to be the slackers, the ones who aren’t doing their work because they simply do not care about their classes, about what their professors think about them, about what their peers think about them. I’ve already encountered kids such as these, those kids who are only here for the “college experience”, or the “let’s get drunk everyday experience”, and not for the true academic experience that an institution of higher education can provide. And I feel for these kids. I really do. It’s really them against the world. They, as a group, as a standpoint, have to face off against all the guidance counselors, the professors, the parents, hell the world in general wants them to go to college, and the truth is it just might not be for them. But they are basically forced to go anyway, or they are ostracized and become burdens on society. They become the lower rung, and we as a society have a problem with that. And that’s what my hypertext is going to be all about.

Analytical Hypertext Topic - Talbot Clarke

I am going to write my analytical hypertext about the SAT’s. I resign from the SAT’s because they are an unfair way of evaluating a student. Everyone knows that the SAT’s are a game. The most unsuccessful students in high school could go to the SAT’s and get a great score while the smartest most hardworking students could receive a sub par score. But really, as I have learned, the key to success in the game of the SAT’s is the preparation. There are tricks to the test, tricks that must be learned to master it. Those students who went through hours and hours of tutoring, at $100 dollars an hour are truly the ones that win the game; they, for the most part, come out with the best scores. So really, is it a test of knowledge, or is it a test of financial status. I know that for me, my family could not put me through hours on end of tutoring. I went to 3 sessions of math tutoring and 3 sessions of English tutoring before taking my second SAT. My scores in each area both increased. If my parents had thousands of more dollars to devote to my SAT preparation, maybe my SAT scores would be up to par.

While I do argue that the SAT’s are a better measure of financial status rather than true intellectual capacity and work ethic, I do see their benefit. They are the way that High School Students can be compared on the same level for College Admissions staff. Rather than having to compare GPA’s from thousands of high schools: some have honors scaling, some go to 4.5, and some schools are just plain harder than others. College Admissions staff needs a way to put everyone on the same level, and that is where the SAT’s come in.

However, some schools such as Wake Forest University have completely eliminated the SAT’s. They believe, like me, that people of higher financial status, are most successful on the SAT’s. They have however, found a way to successfully compare students intellectual capacity without this great generalizer. Whether it may be hiring more admissions staff or making more lengthy applications, the college application can live on with the absence of the dreaded SAT’s.

I am writing my hypertext about judgmental peers and the victims of their criticism.  This is an issue that dominated my life for a good portion of my high school career. Although it is no longer an issue in my life, the feeling of being judged and affected by my peers is a major part of my past and has therefore had an impact on who I am today. Many people are affected by this issue other than these two groups. The first group of people is the parents of the children who are being judged. Whether the child is being judged for their race, religion, looks, or interests, it is extremely painful for a parent to see this happen to their child. It is also hard to have hopes and expectations for your child and have them held back by external influences. The second group is teachers. Because many of these issues happen in the school environment, teachers are often the ones who have to deal with these conflicts. They see first hand what goes on in the classroom and how the students treat each other. Counselors are another category of people because they are the people that students go to or are sent to by teachers when they are having problems with other students. They hear the story from the student’s point of view and are supposed to help solve the problems. One of the sub topics from the judgmental peers is the media and the stereotypes that they elicit. The reason that these kids are being judgmental is because they are getting the ideas from TV and movies and celebrities. Peer pressure from students is another issue. If one “popular” kid is judgmental or mean to a student, there are usually other students who will acquire the same mind set whether they believe it is true or not.

Where did all the Knowledge Go?

I love to travel. I love to experience other cultures and witness other traditions. Something that I dislike about entering another “world” as an American is the overall sensation of ignorance I feel. “I support George Bush’s decision in Iraq” one Italian man told me when I was in Portofino, Italy. The war, I know that but do I support his decision? There’s more to the decision than just getting oil, right? I think?

The more I widen my horizons, the more I realize how ignorant my generation is, myself included. I could even be bold enough to say that it isn’t just eighteen year olds that couldn’t name the Speaker of the House or the Secretary of State. On November 4, 2008 I asked a woman what candidate she was going to vote for: “I’m not sure, I’ll probably go with Obama” was her response. Voting our leader is like ordering lunch? I think I feel like a hamburger…

This issue of ignorance goes far beyond politics. There are horrors all over our planet that few people are aware of. Why? Of course, the government shields details from Americans (if we knew everything we’d be in a constant state of panic), but why do we have the “its not in my backyard mentality”? I hate that!

Children, teenagers, teachers, parents, religious leaders, politicians are all to blame. We all either 1) sweep horrific knowledge under the rug and try very hard to forget about it or 2) go about our lives completely oblivious to everything beyond the next thing on our to-do lists. I’ve met teachers who spit “facts” out in their lectures that have no validity at all. False information is being spread as truth into the minds of the generation that will most likely not double-check it for accuracy.

This issue isn’t easily fixed, nor is probable to be fixed. It just really bothers me that Miss America and the kid in math class who doesn’t know our vice president’s name are the poster children for a country that should know better.

Denseness in the Age of Technology

I am going to write my hypertext essay on computer literacy. I feel rather annoyed at the general public at times due to their shortcomings in understanding how simple computer systems work. Whenever something with an on/off switch stops to work, it seems like everything has to come to a stop while everyone flails their arms about in panic over a simple problem. Some people who are computer illiterate are not to blame for their situation; they have grown up in a world where electricity is just as scarce as a water supply. However people who live in the United States, and who use computers every day have absolutely no excuse for their incredibly dense demeanour. Geeks who through the grace of god have been gifted with a brain that actively seeks solutions are unfortunately tending to the people who refuse to learn how to use a computer. This societal mentality leads people to learn better techniques for whining about how slow their computer is, rather than learn how end processes that are eating up CPU power. It is AMAZING what can be done when you take two seconds to just look at the situation, and using your basic understanding of computers, plug a cable in or install drivers. It also is astounding how 90% of problems can be solved with a quick google.
My hypertext essay is going to be dealing specifically with this issue, and both sides of the computer literacy spectrum. It will teach the illiterate simple solutions, and tell geeks how to cope with the intense hatred for said illiterate. It will also discuss in detail the history of how the current situation came to be, and how a course of action could be taken to solve these many annoyances.

What do women want? For multiple millennia, men have been striving to figure out and meet these ever-changing rules. With the increasing number of people on this earth and increasing number of societal rules, the game is becoming increasingly difficult, this site is to help both men and women alike to realize that these rules are pointless.
Women’s expectations affect many people. First and foremost, women’s expectations affect the men who are trying to court/have sex with them. Women’s expectations cause men to diverge into two types of behavior. One is the shallow manly man. Women’s expectations cause problems for these guys because they become shallow emotionless shells of people. Sure, they get the girl, but are so emotionally bland that a relationship is not possible. The next section of the site will talk about sensitive guys. These men will be the sensitive ones who will eventually feel inadequate because they aren’t manly enough. The next section will talk about how women actually feel about the whole changing expectations situation. This will involve multiple interviews with women of varying ages around campus. This will give a look into how expectations change with age. This will include an interview with a lower classman, an upper classman, and possibly a professor. After this, I will write an article about how these expectations are portrayed in the media. The article will be along the lines of blaming consumerism and portrayal of open sexuality reaches children way before they are ready to handle it. The article will then split into how the media affects young boys and young girls differently.
My experience in this field of confusing and sometimes seemingly impossible rules will help me express the needs of others because like so many men, I have been thrown around by the rules and have experienced the exposure to sexual ideas at a young age. The idea that everyone is doing it has been a constant force in my life. Using my experience, I hope to change the way people see how relationships should work.

topic summary

For my English website, I am writing about people with insecurities vs. people with self-confidence. I am someone who has had very little confidence for my whole life and it has greatly affected opportunities in my life. My two subgroups are: people with insecurities and self-confident people. For my other groups that came after people with insecurities I have missed opportunities, and shy classmates. I chose three other groups that came off of the confident people group, and those were friends, teachers, and parents. For the groups coming off of people with insecurities, I am going to talk about how if ones classmates are also shy and the problems people have with meeting others. If everyone in a class is shy and nervous the class won’t interact as much and you will not make as many friends. Another group I have coming off of that is missed opportunities. I know that for me, I have chosen not to expose myself to certain environments that are not in my comfort zone and that has not helped me meet as many people and experience necessary opportunities. For the groups in the category of self-confident people I and going to write about teachers who don’t understand shy students because they are not shy themselves. This can be difficult for someone shyer because the class could be scary to them if they have to talk a lot. Also, if you have outgoing parents who push you to try new things you aren’t comfortable with that could cause someone to either be shyer or it could make you learn to come out of your shell. Finally, if you have outgoing friends that would have the same effect if not more because they may influence you more. This is what my project is going to cover.

Bad Teachers
We’ve all had them. These are teachers who have decided to do as little work as possible instead of helping their students. They have somehow lost their way through the tribulations and frustration being a teacher entails. So they assign an abundance of “busy” work, play movies, and show up to class late. Being a victim of countless encounters with bad teachers throughout my 12 years in the public school system, I can report that bad teachers are out there.
Bad teachers can affect many people; the first being their students. A student of a bad teacher learns less and often loses confidence. They may dedicate hours to completing an assignment to only have it ripped up in front of them. This causes frustration and confusion. Sometimes because of one bad teacher, a student can began to loathe school which could lead to dropping out. Though there are many scenarios, having a bad teacher never has a positive outcome. The quality of the school is also negatively affected. If the teacher doesn’t teach, the students won’t perform well on the state tests and therefore the school’s ranking will drop. Parents of a student with the bad teacher become livid once they see the torment their child is being put through. They begin to stop donating and supporting the school. The community as a whole is also affected since less people want to move next to a low ranked school. Finally, the school administration suffers with complaint letters and with a negative reputation.
I have had one bad teacher who has made me enraged about this issue; I will be calling him Mr. F. Mr. F taught Honors English yet there was nothing honorable about that class. He came to class every day 5 to 10 minutes late. He would frequently use rude language and racial slurs. He would assign presentations so he didn’t have to do anything. And worse of all, he actually fell asleep during class a few times. I hope to include this personal story in my hypertext as well as tips on how to deal with bad teachers.

My resignation letter, a little late. Sorry.

I resign from the notion that I have to go to college. It’s a weird thought, considering that many people in the world never even get the chance to go to high school, or any school. But in our society, and in my family especially, you really don’t have a choice. It’s not that I don’t want to go to college; trust me, I do. I love it here. But I really wish that I would have had the choice not to, without being ostracized by my family and turned into an outcast. Every member of my family (well, on my mom’s side anyways) went to college, even my grandmother and grandpa, who grew up during the depression. All my aunts and uncles, and all my cousins, either graduated from college or are there right now. I just wish that I could have had the opportunity not to go, without disappointing anyone and everyone. The main reason for this, for me at least, was because I seriously considered enlisting in the Army straight out of high school. Had I done that, I would currently be about halfway through my training for a job that would have sustained me for the rest of my life if I had wanted it to. No more mindless education, no more taking classes that probably will have no relevance to what I actually choose to do with my life (I’m either going to be career Army, a police officer, or a firefighter, and there’s no classes to prepare me to be a firefighter). But when I mentioned enlisting to my parents, it didn’t even warrant a response. It was just ignored. And this angers me. Why must I go to college? Both my parents went to college, my mom even got a master’s degree, and was it worth it? In my opinion, not really, considering that we ended up in the lower income bracket anyway. For most of my friends back home, one of their parents made more than both of my parents combined, sometimes even doubling or tripling what they made. The tuition to this university, along with room and board, almost reaches what my parents make combined. Considering that a police officer with just a high school diploma can, with hard work and a few promotions, make as much as my parents, it really turns me off on the whole college thing. As I said, I want to go to college, I want to be here, but I like to be able to keep my options open. I’m just that kind of person. I want to have more than one choice, I don’t just want to be forced into doing something I may not be ready for. Maybe I should have enlisted for a few years, and then come to college. Maybe I’d appreciate it more then. My problem now is, I didn’t ever get that choice. It was college or bust for me. My parents might as well have written it on my freaking door.

I resign - Talbot Clarke

I want to escape from the tension of my parents. I’m so sick of feeling like I have o chose. I did chose, because it was a childish way of resigning. I was too scared and too weak to pick the fight with both of them, so I let go of one. The one I let go of was my Dad.

Who knows what really happened during their divorce. I know I’ll never hear the truth. All I know is that he went insane. He abandoned us and put all of his energy into fighting with her. If he cared about us he would have let it go.

I resign feeling obligated to my mom. She has treated me well, she really has. She did it all on her own; when he went crazy, she stayed stable. When he went bankrupt, she got a job. But I guess that’s just what she says, who knows if that is the truth. I will never know. I am tired of feeling conflicted; feeling like I’m constantly being lied to. I am skeptical of everything. I hate feeling uneasy. I hate play the role of the second parent. Filling in all the gaps that a single mother with 4 kids and a full time job. I hate playing the role of a second parent. I’m tired of driving, cooking, and doing my lazy-ass brother’s dishes so my mom doesn’t flip out when she get home cranky and stressed from a long days work. I’m tired of being my mom’s friend. I am only a child. I have my own stresses and can’t take on the burden of having to comfort her every night when she cries. I can’t be her friend. I can’t automatically agree with her when she cries after being in court all day and saying that my Dad did x,y and z. I don’t’ even know if she is telling the truth. I resign from being a non-believer. My parents’ divorce has made me cold. In the back of my head I never fully believe anyone. When she says he doesn’t pay any money is it true? I let him go because I couldn’t be stuck in the middle. I still am stuck, even though I let him go. I can’t deal with the stress of his fighting words, his psychobabble about my mom. My head is too full to hear his words too.

I was forced to become an adult at age 12, and I resign. I even feel guilty about being away at college. I feel as if I abandoned my mom when she needed me. I feel the feeling that my Dad should feel.

I resign of being caught in the middle. I resign being a part of their fight, because it isn’t my own, but I have had to fix the pieces. I resign being a tortured child of divorce. However, I can’t resign because it is life. I was born into this family, this now broken family. It is my duty to stay loyal. This is the feeling I am resigning from; the feeling of abandonment, conflict, and being torn in two directions.

I Resign- William Burke

Ignorance

I resign from ignorance and ignorant people. For years I have tried to accept some level of ignorance on the part of many people as a given. I hypothesized to myself that perhaps I am simply unperceptive and that the people I have labeled as ignorant really just believe differently from myself. I am tired of continuing to support my own illusion. Too many people are too unbelievably intellectually, morally, and ethically irresponsible. Similarly for a portion on my life, I convinced myself that this is something mainly in America, and that I could recognize this thanks to years of expensive schooling. This again was another farce, and I realized this as I grew older and noticed both the omnipresence of this same ignorance all around the world, as well as perceptiveness and intelligence outside of my own circle of private schooling. It is clear now that everywhere there are both people who maintain their ignorance, and others who notice it. This is not an American phenomenon, merely an American stereotype; it is a human phenomenon.

I am exhausted by people who argue some sort of point, yet are unable to articulate their own arguments, and fall back to referencing fellow supporters in their given point. To be fair I am consistent to this end, and I don’t really care what the subject of argument might be. From war to poverty to health to even the most basic of concepts and arguments, I am tired of listening to unfounded, ignorant blather from people whose viewpoints are based on conjecture, misunderstanding, and guesses. Personally I adhere to my own criticism as much as I can, in that in an area I am unsure in, I won’t take a position because I am unsure of my own knowledge.

Having spent extensive time within hospitals, with countless doctors, and under careful care of both cardiologists and Infectious disease doctors, I become particularly annoyed about ignorance and presumption in areas of medicine. The concept that a person might not get a vaccine or immunization for anything really, is almost comical. Some people suppose that their individual immune system is just so special that they are able to fight off bacteria and disease especially well. I can draw quickly from this that this person lacks any real sort of medical knowledge, any sort of self perception since they somehow deemed themselves qualified to make health decisions, and also that they are especially ignorant because they have blown by the possibility that getting immunized affects other people besides themselves. This same relative situation happens absurdly frequently in elementary, middle, and high schools. In these cases it is the combined ignorance of both parent and child who manage to be so self involved that they have a clearly sick child attend school, because they could bear to miss a day or two. The repercussion of this is of course many children getting sick, and everyone missing school, including the original child who has allowed his own sickness to get worse by not addressing it when it was noticed.

Talk about Pop Muzik

Alec Molloy

I resign from pop music. Fuck you. Whist watching the travesty that was the MTV Video Music Awards, I came to the tipping point. It seemed as though Facebook exploded as soon as Kanye West got up on the stage and took the microphone from Ms. Swift. Teenage America has become obsessed with the products of record labels, most of whom, haven’t a sliver of talent in their body. I don’t mean to attack all music that has become assimilated into pop culture, but it does seem to be that as soon as you break out into the spotlight it is difficult to get out.
People like Britney Spears, Heidi Montag and pretty much anyone associated with the Disney Corporation have been picked out of obscurity to become cultural icons. This quasi rags-to-riches story is utterly disheartening. To see our world become infatuated with these factory-made stars makes me start to agree with all those miserable old farts who like to start off every sentence with “Kids these days...”.
It seems like pop music today is a complete bastardization of what it meant many years ago. Good music to me is something that is able to give a complete sensation of awe at the talent of the artist; something that should almost make me feel inadequate. I want to hear sounds that have heart and soul put into them, timings that while seem off at first, meld together in to the most mind-blowing mastery of mathematical musical creation. Lyrics that I listen to have a simple meaning, but then after deep pondering, come up meaning something completely different. Bands like Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens and Animal Collective have all satisfied these categories so much, that the fact that they are able to continue to do this in completely new ways without fail is a whole new dimension to unto itself.
Pop music today is so badly ridden with untalented people that in order to compensate for their inadequacies, producers now have to use computers to perfect vocals. And don’t even get me started on the lyrics. After listening to lyrical masterpieces written by Thom Yorke, I have the wonderful experience of listening to the “eloquent” shit that rappers spew. It sounds like every single song is about a girl, either who they want to bang, or who left them. They could at least try to try write something resembling poetry, but that would probably confuse the simple peons that mindlessly follow every hook and riff they spew.
Money ruins music. When an artist makes music so that they can make it rain, they have sold their soul to the devil. People who truly love beautiful music make beautiful music. Someone who is on the Billboard Hot 100 *generally* is someone who does not qualify for this category. Artists that are talented, underappreciated musical geniuses may not ever have the followings that 50 Cent or Lady Gaga have, but they will know deep down in their heart that they have made something beautiful. In part, that is what makes indie and alternative music so wonderful, that its almost like a secret club that nobody really knows about. Personally I would like to keep it that way, so to the rest of America: have fun belting out Pokerface for the umpteenth time, maybe one day you will get sick of it and come to your senses.

I RESIGN

Dear Contact Lenses:
Every day. Every day, I put plastic pieces of shit in my eyes. It’s not even a choice anymore. It hurts and is annoying yet wearing contact lenses has become my routine. My glasses lay right next to my contacts but every morning I choose the contacts. I’m too self-conscious to wear glasses in public thinking I will be stereotyped as a geek. I could also fall into the stereotype of a dumb blonde who tries to wear glasses as an attempt to impersonate a more intelligent person. I am neither a geek nor a dumb blonde so I put my own comfort aside and choose to wear contacts.
Why is that? Why do we put ourselves through pain in order to look “better”. Both my parents and even some friends wear glasses and I don’t think of them as inferior for it. I feel that once I put on my glasses a mask comes on and I become shy and quiet; characteristics that don’t fit who I am; somehow wearing glasses has changed the way that I act. They aren’t even practical. I can’t swim in them and if they fall out, I’m virtually blind.
I think the media has warped my vision (forgive me for the pun), as well as the majority of the population’s, that someone wearing glasses is second-rate to someone without. Think of a supermodel, for example, and then picture her with and without glasses. Almost everyone would say the supermodel looks better without the glasses. It’s just one of the ideas we are programmed with-you have to be thin, tall, look great in clothes, have perfect skin, and NOT WEAR GLASSES. This is because not many supermodels pose with glasses on, it’s just not sexy. The media has made this stereotype, not me, yet I follow it knowing perfectly well it’s completely stupid.
So because glasses aren’t sexy, I go through the hassle of wearing contacts. Millions of women do it. We cake on makeup, get expensive laser treatments to hide wrinkles, and go on crash diets to become the “perfect woman”. But I think the fantasy of the “perfect woman” is unattainable. Everyone has insecurities, like me and my glasses, that we have to live with.
The day after I decided to write about wearing contacts I decided to wear my glasses in Chemistry Lab. I came to this decision after I realized my fear of being seen with glasses and people thinking less of me was absurd. And besides, being a geek in Chemistry Lab is acceptable. I not only wore my glasses, but also had to wear goggles on top of them! I looked ridiculous but for the first time I didn’t care. I did the experiment and left feeling proud. No one harassed me for wearing glasses or gave me funny looks. I still hate wearing contacts but maybe there is equilibrium between glasses and contacts. I can wear my contacts to most of my classes but then take them off when I’m around my friends and family. And, I can concentrate on showing my inner beauty and character instead of worrying about my looks.

My Resignation Letter To My Roommate

Dear William,

You suck. You’re a crappy roommate and I hate your guts. You’re so inconsiderate towards my feelings in the room and for this, I’m leaving….again. This time I am truly never returning and I mean it. Whenever I look at you I feel sick to my stomach. You treat women like shirts, you wear them one day (maybe not even a whole day depending on if you have to dress up to go out to dinner or something) then you just toss them in the dirty laundry. You’re a man whore. It is repulsive. The way you have acted around me since I’ve returned from my first attempted leave is no different than before. You clearly do not care about me or else you would have changed this! All of those pictures you hang up on your closet door are so ugly. Every time I walk into our room I have to look at the faces of you and all of your ugly friends making stupid expressions. Why can’t you have better looking friends? Michael, especially, has this power over me to make me just instantly feel like vomiting and he is absolutely, by far, and without a doubt the ugliest of all. I am sick of diet soda cans strewn all over our room and overloading our refrigerator. Why don’t you just drink normal soda? Your loud and obnoxious “gangsta rap” is always blasting full volume flooding my brain with heavy bass and lyrics of sex and drugs and quite frankly I find it offensive and disrespectful. After many times of me asking you to maybe play some John Legend or perhaps some Miley, but to no avail. You cut your hair in the bathroom and it’s very thin and light and gets all over the place. Whenever I come out of the shower and my feet are wet I step in all these pieces of hair and they get stuck to my feet. The fact that you signed up to be a sperm donor in order to make extra cash without regard to the fact that there will be lots of your terrible offspring running around northern California just shows your selfishness and truly disgusts me! You swear to all of your friends and belittle them (even though they are very ugly) and I fear that soon it will get worse for me too. For this I am leaving. I need to get out and be free. You took this whole roommate relationship thing way too seriously and I just need to open up my wings and live my life. You’re holding me back and I need to soar and explore the world.

PS. I am taking the bean bag chairs and TV with me.
