During the interrogation scene, right before Marcus is about to be released, they offer him a contract to sign. Without knowledge of anything it said, he was forced to sign it in order to gain his freedom. He even said that he would have signed a piece of paper saying he was the one who shot Abraham Lincoln. He was that desperate. This cartoon illustrates the interrogation tactic used on innocent people to manipulate them into taking blame. Torture/terror can be successfully used in order to obtain a desired outcome, we just don’t hear about it very often.
