tuition increase at scu

In Little Brother the Marcus's High School has incredibly high tech security. They have cameras that recognize how people walk and try to associate them with each student. They additionally have sensors in every library book that enable them to locate students. It is their "legal loophole". The courts won't let them track every student, but you can track library books which can track students. All the while, these inventions are being paid for by taxpayer dollars. They're justification for taking such ridiculous measures are that it is for their safety. But where is the line? How much money do you have to spend before it all becomes too much? How many cameras can you have before it becomes invasion of privacy?

This made me think of the recent tuition increase at SCU. Granted, SCU is very different because it is a private institution not a public one. In the case of Cesar Chavez High school, how are people okay with spending more and more money on monitoring they're kids?
