For my fan fiction, I decided to take on the role of Marcus’s father and tell the story from his point of view. I felt like this was an important area to cover and that the author didn’t spend as much time tuning into the parents’ side of the story as the teenagers’. I tried to show what Marcus’s dad would have said in reaction to the terrorist events and focused deeply on his emotional attachment to Marcus as a father. Although this book contained a lot of impersonal and brutal characters, I noticed that there were also small glimpses of affection and love among many of the characters in the novel. Marcus’s father was one of these characters and it was obvious that his son meant the world to him. I hope my readers gain insight into the story when reading it from his point of view.
