My comic is a simple parody of Kanye's interruption of Taylor's Swift's acceptance speech at the VMAs last summer. (The family that is watching TV on the left has its one of the talk bubbles cut off. Its supposed to say "The police have told me to spy on you.") The parody is a summary of what has happened in Little Brother thus far. The DHS has sent the Bay Area, specifically, into turmoil, upping the number of police and staffers to question people that they think are suspiciously going from place to place. Right now, the vibe that I am getting from the DHS's actions is that they think that everyone is a terrorist until proven otherwise. In the comic, Kanye is stopping Taylor from saying her acceptance speech, only to say on national television that the terrorists must be caught before she continues. The families in the second slide are watching the VMAs (citizens in the Bay Area in the book), making conversation about some of the things that have been going on.
