For my bitstrip, I wanted to poke fun at the first few chapters of Little Brother. I decided to pick, what I thought was a ridiculous
situation, and make it even more absurd. So I landed on the scene where Marcus puts rocks in his shoes in order to throw off the
gait tracker. In order for Marcus, and in my strip, Mike to get out of the school they must throw off the security cameras
by changing their walk. Marcus devised a very clever way of escaping by putting rocks in his shoes, therefor making his feet
heavier and his walk off-beat. Since there were no cameras or other props available to represent security devices I decided to
use guards. I wanted to make the guards over dramatic, by putting them in dark costumes with masks and having multiple of
them for back up. The emphasis of having multiple guards suited up from head to toe, pokes fun at how severely the school in
the book took its security system. I also wanted to use something other than rocks, to add even more humor. After browsing
through the props I wasn't pleased with the options but I made due with the sandwich, as I thought it would be available to
a student, and it also had the ability to be broken down into pieces, which would be crucial for the last scene. I selected
somewhat neutral backgrounds and added props to make it feel more like a school, such as the lockers and posters. Mike, the
main character was intended to look like a normal student, just as Marcus would. I think my strip successfully pokes fun at the
beginning of Little Brother, however you would not understand the humor if you hadn't read the book or been aware of the premise.
