Redesign 300 words:

After creating my website the first time, I took a step back to reevaluate some of the design choices that I made after looking at other websites. My first major decision was to set the background to pure black with a highly contrasting white font. I thought that this was a nice choice because it made my site look both cleaner and sleeker. I was inspired to do this after seeing http://www.blackestate.co.nz/. Another major change that I made was to redo the font that I was using for my text. After looking at http://flippingtypical.com/ I was able to choose Garamond for my font because I thought it was both asthetically pleasing and also professional. For my major headings (my homepage and the Kenya hypertext homepage), I decided to use http://interactimage.com/ to create font images to paste into the site. I didn’t want to create anything too elaborate or flashy so I stuck to a relatively basic font that will still allow those to sites to stand out from others. After flipping through some of the other student sites on http://marcbousquet.net/teaching.html, I realized that I would like my navigational menu to be horizontal below the text as opposed to on the left of it. Again, I thought this would continue to keep my site looking classier than just any site. I wanted my site to be very professional looking. For this same reason, I also realigned most of my text on many of my pages. I aligned the text to match with the pictures better and to be centered with everything else as well. In this same way, I also made all the pictures on a single page roughly the same size so everything was more balanced. These changes made my page look way more professional than it had previously looked.
